Navigating Life as an Empath & Understanding Intuition
Being an Empath is different than just being “empathetic.” Empaths have a heightened sense of intuitive ability and can actually “feel” other people’s emotions, energy, and even physical symptoms depending on the type of Empath. There are many people who have never heard the term and there are those who do not realize they are one which can create unique challenges in life. It is often called the gift that feels like a curse and without proper guidance can be overwhelming.
Empaths often have the following traits:
Drawn to helping fields and caregiving
Difficulty saying “no” & struggle with people-pleasing behavior
Labeled as “too sensitive” and emotional
Suffer from sensory overload (ie loud noises, strong scents, crowded environments can cause physical discomfort and deplete energy)
Need for recharging and a strong connection to nature
Natural mediator who people easily confide in
Deeply care about others and an innate desire to help
Strongly impacted by the pain of others
Struggle with anxiety & waves of emotions
Attract toxic relationships and narcissists due to giving nature
These are just some of the traits of an empath and they can vary depending on your level. One of the keys to embracing this gift is to learn boundary-setting, grounding techniques, and self-care.
Empaths often have very strong intuition and clair senses [the senses beyond the five physical senses]. Some have the ability to pick up energy; an inner knowing that cannot be seen, heard, or logically explained but with training can be turned into a path of energy healing for others.
In my practice, I teach empaths how to thrive, learn how to understand & strengthen their intuition, and embrace their power to make positive change in their lives.
There are free assessments available online to determine if you are an Empath, including one published by Dr. Judith Orloff. To explore further, feel free to schedule a coaching session with me.
